Many colleges and universities in the Chicago area offer programs in graphic design and related arts. Harrington College of Design offers programs in graphic design, media design and computer art/design. The International Academy of Design and Technology offers degrees in graphic design, visual communications and multimedia design. School of the Art Institute offers programs in graphic design, media arts and visual communication. The Illinois Institute of Art offers a graphic design degree and degrees in digital design and media arts.

Future employment growth looks promising overall and for design-related jobs. Chicago is expected to experience an overall job growth rate of 10% through the year 2012. Graphic design careers are projected to increase 15%. Multimedia artists will enjoy a 15% increase and other art-related careers are expected to experience a 9% increase in this time period.
