Why Chicago is a Great Place to Study Language
The diversity of Chicago makes this city a good choice for studying foreign languages. Over 450,000 foreign born people are currently living in the Chicago area. This number continues to grow annually. Because over half these residents don’t speak English well, opportunities exist for careers for people with an ESL (English as a Second Language) or foreign language degree. Hospitals, schools and courts in the city have a pressing need for interpreters. Chicago is home to several festivals throughout the year, allowing students to experience other cultures and hone their language skills.
